The Harlequin Football Club (Also known as Quins or Harlequins) are an English rugby union team who play in the English Premiership with their home ground in Twickenham Stoop. In 2011 they were crowned the winners of the European Challenge Cup, as well as winning the English Premiership in 2012 and the LV Cup in 2013.
Group travel is a regular occurrence for the Harlequins players, particularly in season and when we met with them for the first time in November 2015, they were having challenges managing the complexity of their travel and recognised the need for a specialist to step in.
As you can imagine during the latter part of the rugby season there is a lot of last minute group travel, not only for the players, but also for their management and support staff. In addition, special accommodation requirements come with the territory. For peak performance players, rooms need to be large enough to accommodate in-room massages and dining (no distractions now…)
Due to the nature of the sport, it isn’t possible to predict which stage of the tournament the Harlequins will qualify for, so hotel rates need to be flexible with late cancellation. As the Harlequins travel partner Stage and Screen are on hand to support them during this crucial period.
After securing a victory in the semi-finals of the ECPR Challenge, the Harlequins were set to face Montpellier for the final in Lyon and Stage & Screen were more than happy to help!
With just 2 weeks’ notice and over 80 passengers to arrange, Lisa (our dedicated travel manager) made sure that she went above and beyond to give our guys the best chance at glory.
This included; sourcing the best hotel options and negotiating directly with them for better rates and flexibility, ensuring all excess equipment transited without hassle and working alongside our out of hours team to make sure they were up to speed in case anything was needed over the weekend.
